When you are in the mood for something a little different, be sure and check out the Sea Shell Café. On Maddox Boulevard just before the entrance to the Refuge, the Sea Shell has sandwiches, salads and pastas In the evening the dinners are great. We vacationed here in August, just got back actually and we were very let down. From the moment we checked in our hotel and the lady at the front desk was having a conversation with someone else and using some colorful language. Chincoteague Island is dirty and full of juvenile deliquents. Why would anyone want to spend their hard earned money vacationing here? I don't get it at all. The locals are very rude and the hotels are more expensive then they should be. This is an island that definitely needs to get some class!

We visited Chincoteague in July 2006 and found Chincoteague to be one incredible place.Chincoteague has great seafood ,cute shops,pretty good fishing and one of the best beaches on the east coast.We even rented a boat from Snug Harbor Marina and went to a secluded beach,how neat.They even have waterfront cottages for only $99 per night.We only stayed one night,but can't wait to go back.

We were disappointed with it here.we saw many reveiews good and bad we should have listened to the bad.The cabins are old and not clean. We think the problem was that our housekeeper looked to be 12 years old.The floors were sticky, the toilet stained,just not clean.very disappointing.We are coming back to Chincoteague but will make other hotel arrangements.
