This is so beautiful. I hope someday I can retire in Santa Barbara and spend my days enjoying the rose garden/park across the street surrounded by a beautiful 360 degree view! We actually stopped here because this was my child's 4th grade project and wanted to see the real mission, it was well worth it, but we got there late in the day. We were able to take the self-guided tour. Definitely well worth the visit if you're in Santa Barbara

California Missions

have visited all of the California Missions, this one by far is the best. It has been kept in the best condition, and the Mission Store is great. The self-guided tour is great, I always visit it when, I am in the area. This is well worth the time and Money to see. Forester Marty

This is one of the most beautiful missions in California. It's also one of the best maintained. If you have a passion for history, this is a must-see.

a big disappointment
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/09/05
I live in los angeles and have visited the san fernando mission several times.after reading the other reviews we decided to take a saturday trip to the S.B. mission and found myself very dissapointed. mainley becouse the self tour was very small and the grounds of the mission was also very small. all in all it took about one and a half hours to get to the mission and about twenty minutes to tour the mission and the grounds.
