This is a beautiful area on the outskirts of Vegas that I visit frequently. You can hike or mountain climb here, or just simply take a drive around the loop and stop off at the viewpoints for a spectacular view. I highly recommend hiking one of their 15-20 trails they have available. They range in difficulty and distance (easy to difficult and ...

  • Red Rock

Given how close you are to Vegas, Red Rock is a surprise. I enjoy getting out and doing things where ever I go and Vegas is no exception. The chance to hike around the many well kept paths and route in Red Rock should not be missed. You can even take one route to the top of a rock formation and see the entire strip and Stratosphere Tower! It is a fabulous place not to be missed (and it is virtually free!!!).

  • Sight to remember
    By tomandkallie, 02/22/08
The tour was so wonderful since all I thought about Las Vegas was the casinos and did not know about this natural wonder until someone told me it was something worthwhile, and it was. I would go again and do some hiking and bring a picnic lunch to just enjoy the beautiful colors. This is something that should not be missed when in Las Vegas.

  • Spectacular Place

Red Rock Canyon has beautiful rock colors. Also see the Valley of Fire also one hour from the Las Vegas Strip. Do not miss Death Valley which is the largest national park in the lower 48 states. Death Valley is in California and is approximately 4 hours from the Las Vegas Strip.

  • nice break from gambling action
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/09/08
if you need a break from the tables and wish to enjoy nature, the red rock area is recommended, take a short drive of about 20 miles or so and enjoy an area full of sites to explore...

there is a 13mile long scenic road, which takes you to many spots along the canyon for your hiking or viewing enjoyment. entrance to that road costs $5 as of feb 08.

the visitor center offers information on the area and its wildlife...

  • Amazing place
    By hipnotistb, 12/26/07
I am a climber/ hiker. Even if I were not the amazing view of the mountains with the colors and textures that reach out and grab you would draw me back again and again. Climbing is good to brutal. Sandstone climbs make life a little more interesting!!

    By pangtouyu, 12/24/07
The day I went was very windy, so I couldn't do the trails, but I still enjoyed the nature a lot. The stones are so colorful, and all my pictures looke great.
