We just spent 5 days in Williamsburg & Jamestown was by far my favorite place we went. Totally unexpected, this place was so interesting & I learned so much! It was so amazing to stand at the spot of the very first British settlement over 400 years ago. My 14 year old son was in heaven & although he is an expert on American history, he ...
I wanted there to be more interaction with the costumed workers but they just sort of talked a bit and went about acting quietly. My daughter wanted to hear more, but they just sat quietly unless you asked them questions.
It was really fun to go on the ships. Plenty of shade for a hot day. The center and exhibits are great! Very new and clean.

Great Field Trip
By ZebraLover, 05/17/08
Yesterday I went to Jamestown Settlement as an adult chaperone for an elemtary class field trip. There were over 100 students and adults, and we all had a good time. My only complaint would be that the organizors of the trip didn't plan enough time for us to be there. We were there 2 hours but we only saw about 25% of what is there. We had ...

Yorktown, Williamsburg, and Jamestown.. The best !!! We spent Veterans Day in Virginia, it was a great trip. My kids, my wife and I experienced the 18th century traditions. Step back in time and drive the "Colonial Parkway" road between towns. Don't forget to visit the Glass House in Jamestown and the Governor's Mansion in Williamsburg.

Interesting

It was a lot of fun. $10 got you into the settlement, but also extended to Yorktown Battlefield admission, good for one week.
It was neat looking at all the old artifacts that they had excavated. They were still conducting some excavation while we were there!
They had viewfinders all around, where you could scan over the whole fort, see how ...
I like the fact that they kept the "original" style of dress for the period and that there were many friendly, knowledgable people there that played their roles well and weren't creepy or overselling it. We enjoyed walking around, touring the different "18th century" shoppes and whatnot, but it was a LOT of walking. Be prepared.

Don't Miss!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/05/07
A day of fun. Great for adults to see the film, walk the gallery and explore history. Fun for kids. Very hands on and kids are encouraged to touch and learn. They can paddle in the canoe, try on armor, explore the inside of a hut.. Everyone enjoyed the boats. Don't skip this on your visit to Virginia!
I was expecting more to it than what they had there. There really wasn't much to see for the price.
The actors who played the Indians were so rude and the lady who played the grandmother inside the teepee was unbelievably ignorant to the people she was lecturing to. I never saw anyone like her especially someone who is to inform and entertain. WOW!
I wouldn't go back.

Very nice museum
By Brandon, 11/25/06
It was a rainy day in Novemeber when we toured. The Jamestown museum was fantastic and the replica ships were very interesting. I would plan to spend a day here if you like to read everything in a museum.
