My family and I have traveled all over the United States and Virginia Beach is by far the most beautiful. With it's white sand and miles and miles of boardwalk, and area attractions, you never run out of things to do. The atmosphere is exciting, yet safe, and at night you will find music on every street corner. It is blessed with many, many ...

Not a good place to live
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/22/06
I'm a single guy and came looking for fun, and found out that this is a military town with a high male to female ratio--there was a huge surplus of men every place I went. Also found out this is a low-wage area with exiting military flooding the local job market, driving down wages and increasing competition for few available good jobs. Not a place I would want to live in.

Great place to visit... but i wouldn't live there!
If you are looking for the East Coast experience, VA Beach is it. Great location, everything is close by, and the police presence on the strip is very comforting... did you know they have a law against cruising, and a law against foul language? As for living there... i lived in or near VA beach for 5 years, and i'm sorry to say that it gets old quick. And who has that kind of money anyway?

Not for everyone, but still a great city.
By Sean Holihan, 06/04/06
I grew up in Virginia Beach before moving to neighboring Norfolk, VA. A lot of these reviews on here seem to only focus on the "strip" (or oceanfront). The "strip" consists of only a few miles of Virginia Beach. This is a very poor indicator of the city as a whole. While Virginia Beach is not a Hawaiian paradise, Virginia Beach ...
VA Beach is like a sweltering sandbox overflowing with rednecks. I think there is a city code that unless you have more tattoos than teeth you are not allowed on the beach. And if you are traveling by way of I-64 be prepared for traffic jams lasting for hours which are usually caused by someone pulling over to urinate on the shoulder and everyone ...

If you happen to drive down the east coast from Rehoboth and cross all 22 miles of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge you will land smack on Virginia

I have been to many beaches in the United States, from Florida to Wisconsin and the Pacific, and I feel that Virginia Beach is one of the most beautiful of all. I have taken my family as well as friends there many times and intent to do so again. The people are very friendly and the beach is just spectacular. The beach front hotels are some of the best values found. I look forward to my next visit.

Will never vacation there again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/17/05
We have just returned from our family vacation at Virginia Beach. We did not find it an enjoyable experience at all. The sand area of the beach where we stayed was littered everyday with the same litter: cigarette butts, straws and containers. It was gross. The prices were just ridiculous. The area where there were four seat and two seater ...
