Not sure if I was at the same city as the other reviewers. People are generally unfriendly(denied twice for assistance to take a picture of my wife and myself). C-level attractions at best. Bario Alto (night life) was unsafe and unattractive. St George Castle has a nice view but little else. The old section of the city is really nothing to see. ...

Nice City
By catbox_9, 10/27/05
Lisbon is a nice city but you're best of leaving town to go to a neighboring city. Try to go to Sintra to see the Palacio Nacional da Pena.

A hidden treasure...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/02/06
I came to europe for my study abroad program and had already planned out where I wanted to go. Last minute, I added Lisbon and it turned out to be a GREAT decision! I think it is often overlooked since many tourists head to the main cities in the more popular countries, but if you have the time, it's worth the trip! There are a ton of amazing ...

A picturesque port city
By HubeiCMC, 05/07/06
Lisbon is a picturesque port city, with cobblestone streets, mosaic sidewalks, and pastel houses.
During Lisbon's golden age, the city was renowned for its wealth and beauty, and of course was one of the greatest maritime centers in history.
Downtown Lisbon, still today has an elegant 18th-century layout. However the 19th- and ...

Unique Lisbon
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/29/08
I had the unfortunate opportunity to walk through Avenida de Libertade and admire the well trimmed urban landscape and observe the gentrification creeping in Lisbon that can’t wait to compete with the other European capitals. And there across the Louis Vuitton flag store I saw a person totally covered and wrapped in a black plastic foil (a ...

I had a great time in Lisbon exploring the city. Downtown the christmas lights are just amazing, and they have the tallest christmas tree in Europe. Dont miiss Hennesy's Irish Pub at the waterfront.

fun, interesting, cheap, what more do you want?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/17/05
Lisbon was very fun, great food, the people were nice, we stayed in a very cheap but nice hotel, don't miss the Theives Market, and check out the Chirst the King statue (across the estuary), where a few blocks away you can eat at local resturants where you get to point to the fish you will eat, for 8 Euros, ironically the Naval Museum was flooded when we were there, so we didn't get a chance to visit it
